So...

I keep thinking about writing on this page and then another day goes by... and I still haven't. But HA! Now I am.

My sister is going to have a baby (hopefully) next week. Yay. :)

And... I'm running out of time and crap to say. Sorry. This blog is pathetic. I'll do better next time. I promise.

Does anyone check their xanga anymore? Maybe I'm just saying that because I never do... Kevin keeps saying that I need to open a different blog site. I'm thinking about it.

I cannot believe that I have just one more scholastic year left before I am a college graduate. Remember when college graduates seemed so ridiculously old to you? What's even more incredible is that I'm actually looking forward to classes and school and all that crazy stuff.

I'm in the middle of the last of 12 weeks of summer spanish classes. I'm also attempting to pass the Biology Clep test. If actually pass it I will have taken care of 16 hours this summer.

Blather...   Man. All of the above just sounds self absorbed and stupid.

Hm. Well, maybe it will get better. If I do decide to get a new blog thingy, I'll let you know.

You know... if you still actually want to know.

This is the more later...

...fifteen days later to be exact.

Mi niece's name is Eden Grace. She is already beautiful to me.

Other things that are beautiful to me:

  • campfires
  • my roommate
  • Ozie's curly hair on his hind end
  • wedding cakes
  • Kevin's temples
  • a full moon
  • vegging with a friend
  • georgia okeefe's paintings
  • trees... all manner of trees; dead, alive, hibernating, prickly
  • a well done bookcover
  • jack johnson's voice

Why is it that I'm always reduced to a list? Trust me people... I am much more than a list. If you knew me, and I mean really knew me, you would know that.

But for now, that's a pretty good list.

Well, guess what? I'm at the bookstore, braving all (mostly Nancy's displeasure) and writing an incredibly dull post because I can't keep ignoring the internet any more. I don't know if I'll be able to keep up with xanga when I'm eventually not working at the bookstore. After all, this is where the magic began.

I'm going to be an aunt! Well, I guess you already knew that but I'm going to have a niece! Yay for girls - they're the best after all. ;) Mom and I went pink crazy while I was in Perryton this past week. I hope that she has her mom's feet. Brandon, as I've always thought, is a very tall hobbit and has the feet to match that title.

The road goes ever on and on
up the door where it began...

Wow... that's all. So sad. There may be more later. We'll see.

Margaret

There's a ghost in Gates Hall. Evidently this is a well known fact for much of the student population at Wayland. I, however had never heard of it until a few friends (Autumn and Courtney) decided to freak me out and tell me the story and then drive me by the building where a third floor light was on.
It's said that the ghost of a young lady, who was probably a music student, jumped off the third floor of Gates after she failed her end of term juries. Evidently she was pretty hard core about practicing and she was crushed after her failure. The story dates back to 1940 an possibly earlier. It has been reported that people hear what could be singing or possibly flute practicing and they often hear piano music floating down the halls. Then there are the reports by a security guard of lights being on at night and seen from the outside but when he travelled upstairs, the lights were off but he said he caught a glimpse of a girl in a white dress rounding a corner. He got pretty freaked out. Also, those who work in the building say that doors will close inexplicably and when they ask who's there, no one answers and also doors that are locked that might not have been locked just before. A few years ago they renovated the third floor but not all of it has been renovated, some of it is still used for storage. While renovating, there were rumors that the ghost could have been somewhat disturbed because she was more "active" than usual.
And if that wasn't enough, there's a video. I haven't seen this video for myself but evidently during the preparation for the last Acadamy Awards of Wayland, some students were filming a fake representation of the ghost upstairs in Gates at night. (The theme of Acadamy Awards was "Are you Afraid of the Dark.") They had a girl dress in white and walk through the halls, just to kind of freak people out when they played it at the event. But when they replayed the footage that they shot, there were two girls. The one they knew, and then an impression of one following somewhat behind her.
Anywho, Dr Owens is the one who knows most of the legendary stuff behind the tale and she evidently thinks that our ghost is a friendly one. Whatever that means...

Anywho, If you know me at all, you know that I don't like scary stuff. At all. It almost makes me mad. But this story was interesting. I dont' know if it's because of the music ties or just because it's Gates and I had never heard it before yesterday. I don't even know if I believe in anything like that but... I thought it was a good story anyway. And Courtney, Autumn and I decided that we would name the ghost Margaret. Meg for short. Good name for a ghost.
Well, sorry if i freaked you out. I'm at work (thank heavens only for another twelve minutes) and pretty bored...

Here's an article-ish thing about the ghost if you want an external source:
